Certain online media and networking companies seem to be well positioned to enter the public market including Facebook, Twitter, Skype and Yelp. Don Reinke is a partner at Reed Smith LLP with extensive experience as a corporate lawyer in the areas of venture capital finance, public securities offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and other general corporate representation of technology start-up and emerging growth companies. Don is currently a Deputy Chair of the firm’s Global Emerging Company/Venture Capital Practice and has authored numerous state and federal securities law articles, including articles in the IPO Journal and Co-Editor of the California State Bar's Blue Sky treatise.

Jeffrey Hagan
Managing Director, Investment Banking

Mr. Hagan has spent 20 years in investment banking and financial services, with execution experience that includes public and private equity financing, structured product transactions, M&A advisory and real estate finance. Mr. Hagan has successfully completed over $10 billion in financing and M&A transactions during his career. Before coming to Canaccord Adams in January 2008 to oversee the Technology and Sustainability practices in the western US, Mr. Hagan was co-head of Technology Investment Banking at Oppenheimer & Co. Prior to joining Oppenheimer, Mr. Hagan was a founder and Managing Director of The Metcalf Group/Innovation Investments LLC, a merchant bank and developer of large-scale renewable energy ventures. From 1995 through 2002, Mr. Hagan was the global head of Communications Technologies Banking for the UBS Technology Group, of which he was also a founding member. Mr. Hagan also spent time in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs in New York, the Sumitomo Bank Capital Markets group in Hong Kong, and Trammell Crow Ventures in Dallas.
Mr. Hagan received an M.B.A. in Finance from The Wharton School, an A.B. in Economics from Stanford University, and a Certificate in Mandarin from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
Armando Castro

Armando Castro is a partner in Reed Smith’s Corporate and Securities Group. Armando’s practice is diverse; he represents companies ranging from formation stage to mature public companies. He also represents the boards of directors, investors and investment banks that invest and work with these companies. His industry background includes renewable energy technologies, industrial chemicals, synthetic biology, drug discovery, pharmaceutical development, energy conservation technologies, enterprise and telecom networking technologies, wireless technologies, electronics, software, and semiconductors.
Armando has represented clients in a variety of both domestic and international matters including: corporate governance and investigations, public and private offerings, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, licensing, manufacturing and distribution partnership and technology matters. He is recognized as a leading authority on the clean‐tech sector.
Thomas P. Soloway

Thomas Soloway is Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Transcept Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Prior to joining Transcept, Mr. Soloway spent nine years working in the private equity industry for Montreux Equity Partners. While there, he assisted in the developing, structuring and financing of multiple early stage venture capital transactions. Mr. Soloway held responsibility throughout the spectrum of the investment process including due diligence activities, structuring, negotiation, deal documentation, post investment monitoring, and consulting to portfolio companies as both an advisor and Board member.
Mr. Soloway received a Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurial Studies from the University of Southern California and a Masters of Business Administration from Georgetown University.
David Weild
Senior Capital Markets Advisor, Grant Thornton LLP
David Weild is the Senior Capital Markets Advisor at Grant Thornton LLP, providing strategies and insights into today’s global capital markets. He is co-author of the recent Grant Thornton studies, A wake-up call for America and Market Structure is causing the IPO crisis. David is a frequent guest speaker, panelist and ongoing resource to the financial news media on issues relevant to the capital markets.
David is also founder of Capital Markets Advisory Partners. He was formerly the vice-chairman and executive vice-president of The NASDAQ Stock Market, overseeing the more than 4,000 listed companies. David spent 14 years in a variety of senior investment banking and equity capital markets roles at Prudential Securities. He participated in the NYSE’s and National Venture Capital Association’s Blue Ribbon Regional Task Force to explore ways to help restore a vibrant IPO market and keep innovation flourishing in the United States.
David holds an MBA from the Stern School of Business and a B.A. from Wesleyan University. He has studied on exchange at The Sorbonne, Ecole des Haute Etudes Commerciales and The Stockholm School of Economics.
