The entrepreneurial environment is rapidly becoming global through the mobility of capital, people and technology. The Lester Center at UC Berkeley has partnered with Intel Corporation to create the premier global, technology-focused, business plan competition. This competition brings the winning teams from university-centric competitions from around the world here to Berkeley to compete in the heart of the US entrepreneurial community.
In emerging markets, innovation and entrepreneurship are particularly important. The Challenge showcases business opportunities from these areas that have the greatest potential for a positive impact on society through the deployment of new and truly innovative technologies. Through the Challenge, Intel and UC Berkeley are committed to aiding universities worldwide in providing an environment, including technical and business curricula, that supports entrepreneurs and helps them make their dreams a reality.
The 24 entrants for this year’s challenge will compete in a semi-final round on Wednesday, November 19 and be narrowed down to 8 teams that will compete in Thursday’s finals. The teams represent universities in Russia, Mexico, China, Brazil, Singapore, Israel, India, Germany, Chile, Poland, Turkey, Japan and the US. This diverse group of student teams will bring with them some of the brightest new ideas in the world!
Join us in learning about what's new and innovative in technology around the globe. All those present will also be invited to participate in the selection of the winner of the People's Choice Award, which carries a $5000 prize.
This competition is made possible by a generous grant from Intel Foundation under the sponsorship of the Intel® Higher Education Program - a worldwide collaboration between Intel and 150 universities in 34 countries - providing students with access to world class research leadership, direct technology support and technology entrepreneurship skills to help move the resulting technology expertise and knowledge to the local economies.
Don’t miss this exciting event where the eight finalists will present their plans -- and the winners will be announced.
The November program begins earlier than usual with a networking hour at 6 PM with complimentary drinks and hors d'oeuvres in the Bank of America Forum at the Haas School of Business. Due to time constraints, there will be no "numbers"/pitch your company segment at this Forum.
Registration is required.
