The Bay Area is home to many food innovations. Each year, new food start-ups crop up at the ready to take their products to market. Come hear from John Foraker, the CEO of Annie’s Inc. and Laila Tarraf, the Chief People Officer from Peet’s Coffee & Tea as they discuss the challenges encountered and lessons learned in the food industry. How does a company stay true to its mission and grow with integrity as it scales from a small retail outlet to a nationwide presence in grocery stores and online sales? How does a food entrepreneur preserve the quality of their product and social responsibility of their company as they expand? How does a company hire the right people at the right time and align corporate culture to a clear vision and successful growth strategy? These questions, and many others, will be answered by our panelists.
The evening will also include a special networking hour, prior to the panel, featuring displays from some of the Bay Area’s most beloved, as well as up and coming food companies including Adina for Life, Annie’s Inc., Lotus Foods, Navitas Naturals, Peet’s Coffee & Tea, Purity.Organic, Rock Wall Wines, Silver Moon Desserts, Sukhi's, and That Takes The Cake. Because of the special networking hour, we will not hold the usual "Pitch Your Company" at this session.
This session is not to be missed for anyone interested in the world of food!

After that John founded Homegrown Natural Foods, Inc, a platform company in natural and organic foods that owned several brands and eventually held a majority ownership interest in Annie’s. Prior to his work in the food business he served as a vice president for Bank of America, where he managed corporate banking relationships with particular focus on the bank's North coast California wine industry portfolio.
