UC
Berkeley Business Plan Competition Sees Increase in Submissions
— Workshops Still Open
Sixty-six teams met the February 1 deadline
to submit their executive summaries to the 7th annual UC
Berkeley Business Plan Competition. This is a fifty percent
increase over entries for the 2004 competition. This year's
competitors submitted plans featuring new medical devices,
consumer and enterprise software solutions, and the commercialization
of new energy, as well as ventures based on consumer products
and and professional services. The executive summaries will
now be judged by members of the entrepreneurial and venture
capital community. Semi-finalists will be announced on Wednesday,
February 16.
Workshops
The business plan workshops will continue
to be offered during February and March, with the February
7 workshop on Intellectual Property for Start-ups sponsored
by Qualcomm. Two other
workshops will follow, these are on Financial Modeling and
Perfecting Your Pitch and will take place on February 22 and
March 15.
