Corporate Spinouts: An Emerging Source of New Venture Opportunity A panel presentation featuring Glenn Solomon, General Partner of Partech International, George Hoyem, Managing Partner of Blueprint Ventures, Farshid Arman, Director of Venture Technology at Siemens Technology-to-Business Center, and Sean Doyle, Sector Director of Intel Capital.

Did you ever wonder what corporations do with innovations that don't fit? The answer for many corporations is “spin-outs.” The problem: how to find the entrepreneur and the funding to take advantage of the idea, or, conversely, how does the entrepreneur find the orphan technology? This panel is composed of two veteran venture capitalists who will talk about how to structure such opportunities, how they differ from other start-ups and how they're the same. Joining them aree two representatives of corporations that take the opposite route, looking for independent technologies that can benefit from a large corporate parent that can bring them the value necesssary to obtain their first round of venture financing or provide that funding itself.
