Turner Fellowship

The Turner Fellowship is awarded to an eligible student interested in an entrepreneurial career. There is one $5,000 fellowship available each year. For more information:

About the Turner Fellowship

The Turner Fellowship has been established to support MBA students in their entrepreneurial efforts.  One $5,000 award will be given to an outstanding MBA student (Full-time or Evening/Weekend). A faculty & staff committee makes the selections based on academic achievements, entrepreneurial experience, career goals, and financial need.

Daniel K. Turner

Daniel K. Turner III, founder of Montreux Equity Partners, is the sole sponsor of this fellowship. Mr. Turner has 17 years of experience as an entrepreneur, operating manager and venture capitalist. He is the Chairman of TransOral Pharmaceuticals and is a member of the board of directors or has board responsibility for Neurogesx, Novacardia, Orexigen Therapeutics, Peninsula Pharmaceuticals, Renal Care Partners and Somaxon Pharmaceuticals. Prior to Montreux, Mr. Turner managed the Turnaround Group for Berkeley International, where he had responsibility for a portfolio of $200 million. Mr. Turner holds a B.S. degree from Sacramento State University (magna cum laude) and attended the MBA program at the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. Mr. Turner attended Evening MBA courses and feels that it is important to support the entrepreneurial aspirations of evening and weekend students.

Criteria for Turner Fellowship

Students must have at least one year of study remaining towards their MBA degree (EWMBA and dual degree candidates are eligible in their first or second year). A faculty & staff committee makes the selections based on academic achievements, entrepreneurial experience, career goals, and financial need.

Financial need will be a factor in final selection. Candidates must demonstrate financial need or indicate if they will be receiving support from other sources, i.e., fellowships, work, grants, etc.

It is the intention of the fellowships that any awarded funds be applied towards the student's direct educational expenses (i.e., tuition, books, etc.).
