2002 - Present Fellow:
Jim Hornthal
Hornthal served as the founding Chairman of Preview Travel
since its inception in 1985 and was the founding Vice-Chairman
of the Board for Travelocity.com, created when Preview Travel
merged with Travelocity. He left in 2002 when the company
was acquired by Sabre.
Prior to starting Preview Travel, Mr. Hornthal was a General
Partner at Oak Grove Ventures, a venture capital firm, and
a Consultant for The Boston Consulting Group, a management
consulting firm. Mr. Hornthal is an active angel investor,
and is regularly incubating new ventures. He is the Vice Chairman
of Charles Chocolates, a gourmet confection company, and is
a director of several other private companies.
Jim is a Venture Partner with CMEA Ventures, a diversified
venture fund with
$1.2 billion under management with investments in information
technology, life sciences, and energy/clean-tech.
There have been two Harvard Case Studies written on Jim Hornthal
and Preview Travel, and he frequently helps the Lester Center
Executive Director, Jerry Engel, present the case in Jerry's
classes.
