Special Invitation to L&S Students
from the Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation
The Lester Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation extends a special invitation to Letters & Science students to participate in its programs, including the new Entrepreneurship Initiative of the College of Letters and Science.
The Lester Center is the primary locus at Berkeley, for the study and promotion of entrepreneurship in management and new enterprise development, and it serves everyone in the campus community with entrepreneurial interests.
The Lester Center’s location at the Haas School of Business allows it to connect business leaders with undergraduate and graduate students from all departments on campus. The Lester Center’s activities also allow students from different departments to network and collaborate.
Lester Center programs of special interest to L&S students include:
- New Course: Letters & Science 5: An Introduction to Entrepreneurship – Part of the L&S Entrepreneurship Initiative, this course is designed for freshmen and sophomores in the College. The course will be taught by Lester Center's Robert J. Majteles.
- Entrepreneurial Best Practices Series – free evening short courses that cover the range of tasks required for creating a well-crafted business plan, including opportunity recognition, intellectual property protection, and raising capital.
- Berkeley Entrepreneurs Forum - a stimulating and informative setting for students and the public to meet with and hear from seasoned professional entrepreneurs, and network with those entrepreneurs and each other.
- Newton Distinguished Innovator Lecture Series - is held Tuesday evenings at 5 PM, featuring distinguished entrepreneurs from organizations at various stages of development and representing a broad range of industries.
- Mentoring Opportunities – the Lester Center invites students to meet with experienced entrepreneurs for mentoring and networking.
- Business Plan Competitions – the Lester Center supports a number of business plan competitions, including competitions with special interests in social ventures, technology, or venture capital.
