Programs in Social Entrepreneurship

"Social AND fiscal responsibility" are terms Haas students live by. Haas students created not only the Global Social Venture Competition back in 2000, but they were also integral in establishing the Social Entrepreneurship course. "We envision a world in which every business values, generates, and accounts for social impact." That's what it's all about.

Global Social Venture Competition (GSVC). Join GSVC as a club member your first year. Learn how to network with professionals, run a competition and learn about sustainable businesses. In your second year, join the competition as an entrant and work with a mentor to sharpen your business plan and then have professionals evaluate the plan.

Net Impact @ Haas. The club invites socially-minded business leaders to speak on campus, sponsors comunity service projects, coordinates a class on corporate social responsibility, maintains a database of Haas alums working in fields relevant to its members, and organizes social functions.

International Business Development Program sponsored by the Clausen Center. Take three weeks out of your summer after classes are over to work with a team of Haas MBA students to act as consultants to solve international business clients' problems.

Lester Fellows Meetings. Meet with a Lester Fellow to discuss your business idea. Fellows are successful Bay Area company founders and venture capitalists who have been closely affiliated with the center for at least one year and serve as mentors to the Berkeley MBAs. Fellows are chosen not only for their entrepreneurial track record, but for their enduring commitment of time and energy to the Haas School.

Stay Connected. Want to be informed about socially responsible business and entrepreneurship events? Sign up for the Entrepreneurship at Haas, GSVC, and Net Impact on the Haas club network to automatically receive event emails.
