Nick Triantos is a VC at Ignition Partners, focused on enterprise software companies. Before joining Ignition, Nick has founded 2 companies, been a software engineer, a VC, a sushi chef, military police officer, arcade video game repair guy, a CEO, and a firefighter/EMT. At Ignition Partners, Nick primarily focuses on math-intensive enterprise business applications. Areas ranging from AI, machine learning, computer vision, AR/VR, cryptography, blockchain, and NLU are all of particular interest. Ignition is mostly focused on Series A investments, and is currently investing a $200M fund from offices in the Seattle area and the SF Bay Area. Ignition’s notable previous investments include Splunk, Docker, Cloudera, XenSource (creators of the hypervisor which powers Amazon’s AWS), and DocuSign. Prior to joining Ignition in 2016, Nick worked at SRI (Stanford Research Institute) as a managing director in the ventures team, spinning out technologies from the SRI research labs. Before SRI, Nick co-founded and worked as CEO for ionGrid, a mobile security company, which Nick sold to NetApp in 2013. Earlier in Nick’s career, Nick joined NVIDIA when it was a pre-revenue startup. At NVIDIA, Nick created NVIDIA’s OpenGL software, worked on Direct3D, and later, as Chief Software Architect, Nick’s teams built CUDA and numerous other tools for programming and using GPUs. Nick has also been a CEO for TokBox, a Sequoia-funded startup focused on real-time communications, and was part of the founding team at Navio, which sold to Oracle in the mid-90s. Nick has worked about 15 years in the video game industry, used to work part-time as a sushi chef in silicon valley, and has pulled multiple people out of burning buildings and car accidents when he was a volunteer firefighter. Nick has a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Buffalo (SUNY), and MBA degrees from Haas and Columbia University in NYC.
