Richard Lui is an early-stage investor with Next47, a $1.2B fund created in partnership with Siemens to invest in the next categories of enterprise software and frontier tech. His primary focuses are next-gen developer/infrastructure software and robotics investments in both domestic and emerging markets. Richard partners closely with founders and teams, building a collaborative and trusted relationship at the earliest stages of a company. He is involved in Next47’s investments in, 15Five, Gecko Robotics and Built Robotics. Prior to Next47, Richard was part of Merrill Lynch’s Palo Alto-based technology investment banking team where he supported Salesforce’s acquisition of MuleSoft as well as Fastly’s and Avalara’s respective IPOs. He also worked for Tumblr’s Ad Tech team in New York when the company was still under the Yahoo umbrella and spent time with Wish’s business development arm. Richard graduated from the Haas School of Business, UC Berkeley. Outside of work, you can usually find Richard at urban/hip-hop dance classes at On One Studios (San Jose) or scouring the bay area for adequate Hong Kong food when he misses home.
